A form of thinking that begins with the details from the environment to form perceptions and understanding. This thinking involves little to no prior knowledge or expectation about an incoming sensory input. For example, when you hear a sound, Bottom-Up Processing would involve identifying it as music before recognizing the specific song. See also: Top-Down Processing.
