Just Ask Us – A Video Series by Autistic Young People, for School Senior Leaders
Just Ask Us is a set of videos created by the Greater Manchester Autism Consortium (GMAC) in collaboration with SENDCode and DISC. Aimed at senior school leaders across Greater Manchester, the series highlights how small, low- or no-cost adjustments can make a big difference to the school experience of autistic students.
Developed by the GMAC’s Young People’s Focus Group—hosted by Greater Manchester Youth Network (GMYN)—the project centres around autistic voices throughout. Young Autistic people shared their lived experiences of what worked well and what didn’t in school. These insights were then brought to life with the help of local Neurodivergent creatives, turning real stories into impactful videos.
From script to screen, autistic talent was involved at every stage, making Just Ask Us a shining example of true co-production. The videos will be freely available on SENDCode’s Vimeo channel and on the new GMAC website, along with a free downloadable PDF of Top Tips for school senior leaders and Governors to use in awareness-raising and leadership training.
This resource not only supports better understanding and inclusion in education but also celebrates the talent and creativity of Autistic young people across Greater Manchester.
